It’s a new year so we’ve decided to bring you all a fresh blog segment! We’ve asked our favourite fashion bloggers to take over our blog for one post – find out more about them, what they think of our latest collection and their style tips for 2014. First up is one of the dopest bloggers we know, Risa of Vintage Doll Risa. She tells us about her love of streetwear brands, and why bombers are on her wishlist for this season…
VDR here, taking over the Educate Elevate blog!
When EE hit me up to do a guest post I couldn’t wait. If you didn’t know, I blog at vintagedollrisa.blogspot.com where I share my personal style which includes pieces from Educate Elevate and many other great street wear brands. Street wear is my number one love, I like to mix and match and really just have fun with what I wear. Brands like EE allow me and many others to express themselves and be bold and the newest collection has once again done exactly that. The new collection has brought such a fresh new style to EE, it’s allowed EE to become so much more distinctive and has developed it not only into a more innovative street wear brand but into a brand that could go so much further with the new creative designs. My favourite pieces have to be the bombers and cropped jumpers. I live in my bomber jackets so I was so excited to see EE introduce their new quilted ones. The cropped jumpers are also a win for me because they are so versatile. I could definitely see artists such as Rainy Milo, MOKO and Ella Eyre rocking these pieces!
My style tips for 2014 would have to be; being more creative and bold. Look for brands and designers that are not as big as others but are cool and unique. This year I’ll be wearing much more colour and also bright prints. I’m really into bright printed bombers and neon kicks. Oh and I’m lusting over matching printed tracksuit sets. Bags are another big accessory I think that are going to be a big thing this year, with all the new creative bag designs and shapes. I’m hoping to get my hands on some really unique backpacks and of course this year ill be rocking Educate Elevate! Here’s my look I’ve styled featuring the new collection…
I put together this outfit around the quilted Educate Elevate bomber jacket. I chose mostly black clothes to keep the focus on the bomber but played around with textures… for e.g. with the ripped jeans and also the net top, paired with the mesh triangle bra which gives the outfit a edgy feminine feel against the boyish bomber and matching green New Balances. I threw in the bucket hat and black lipstick to finish the look off with a real urban streetwear / tomboy feel. I actually want this whole outfit now!
Big thank you to Clarissa AKA Risa for being our first blogger takeover of 2014! Make sure you go and check out her blog now and follow her on Twitter & Instagram to keep upto date with her stylish looks @thegirlrisa
